Health attitude scale construction: importance of psychometric evidence

Abstract

Objective: To identify 18 steps to 3-component attitude scale construction.

Methods: Examples are provided to illustrate each step.

Results: The presentation primarily focused on specific steps in constructing meaningful health attitude scales. Further, the importance and concept of various forms of realibilty and validity are provided. Special attention is given to factors affectiving psychometric evidence.

Conclusions: In order to meaningfully measure health related attitudes, researchers and evaluators should consider following the steps outline in the presentation.
