The Hypnotic Induction Profile (HIP) is a standardized assessment of hypnotizability featuring a validated 0-10 scoring system, that does not factor in posthypnotic amnesia. Using confirmatory factor analyses (CFA), we compared the 10-point scoring system with a new 12-point system that includes the posthypnotic amnesia item in independent samples of individuals with fibromyalgia (n = 98) and healthy adults (n = 97). Additionally, we explored associations of the two scoring systems with measures of hypnotic phenomena. CFA results indicate that the 12-point scoring system is a good fit for the 1-factor model of hypnotizability. Posthypnotic amnesia loaded highly on the model in the fibromyalgia sample, and moderately on the model in healthy adults. Furthermore, the 12-point scoring system correlated significantly with measures of hypnotic phenomena. We conclude that the 12-point scoring system is psychometrically equivalent yet conceptually more comprehensive than the 10-point scoring system.
Das Hypnotic Induction Profile (HIP) ist ein standardisiertes Untersuchungsinstrument der Hypnotisierbarkeit, ausgestattet mit einem validierten Einstufungssystem von 0 bis 10, das nicht die posthypnotische Amnesie betrifft. Wir bedienten uns einer bestätigenden Faktorenanalyse (confirmatory factor analysis, CFA) und verglichen das 10-Punkte System mit einem neuen 12-Punkte Einstufungssystem, welches posthypnotische Amnesie-Items bei unabhängigen Stichproben von Personen mit Fibromyalgie (n = 98) sowie gesunden Erwachsenen (n = 97) beinhaltet. Dazu untersuchten wir Zusammenhänge der beiden Einstufungssysteme mit Maßen hypnotischer Phänomene. Die CFA Ergebnisse zeigen, dass das 12-Punkte System gut passend ist für das 1-Faktor Modell der Hypnotisierbarkeit. Die posthypnotische Amnesie lud hoch auf dem Modell bei der Fibromyalgie Stichprobe und moderat bei der Stichprobe gesunder Erwachsener. Ferner korrelierte das 12-Punkte System signifikant mit Maßen der hypnotischen Phänomene. Daraus schließen wir, dass das 12-Punkte Einstufungssystem psychometrisch äquivalent ist mit dem 10-Punkte System, indessen vom Konzept her umfassender als dieses.

Le profil d'induction hypnotique (HIP) est une évaluation standardisée de l'hypnotisabilité avec un système de notation validé de 0 à 10, qui ne tient pas compte de l'amnésie post-hypnotique. En utilisant des analyses factorielles confirmatoires (CFA), nous avons comparé le système de notation à 10 points avec un nouveau système à 12 points qui comprend l'item d'amnésie post-hypnotique dans des échantillons indépendants d'individus atteints de fibromyalgie (n = 98) et d'adultes en bonne santé (n = 97). De plus, nous avons exploré les associations des deux systèmes de notation avec des mesures de phénomènes hypnotiques. El Perfil de Inducción Hipnótica (HIP por sus siglas en inglés) es una evaluación estandarizada de hipnotizabilidad con un sistema de calificación validado de 0 a 10 que no incluye amnesia posthipnótica. Utilizando un análisis factorial confirmatorio (AFC), comparamos el sistema de calificación de 10 puntos con un nuevo sistema de calificación de 12 puntos que incluye el reactivo de amnesia posthipnótica en muestras independientes de individuos con fibromialgia (n=98) y adultos sanos (n=97). Adicionalmente, exploramos asociaciones de ambos sistemas de calificación con otras mediciones de fenómenos hipnóticos. Los resultados del AFC indicaron que el sistema de 12 puntos concuerda con el modelo unifactorial de la hipnotizabilidad. La amnesia posthipnótica presentó una carga grande en el modelo en la muestra con fibromialgia, y una carga moderada en el modelo con adultos sanos. Además, el sistema de calificación de 12 puntos correlacionó significativamente con las medidas de fenómenos hipnóticos. Concluimos que el sistema de 12 puntos es psicométricamente equivalente al de 10 puntos, pero conceptualmente más comprehensivo.
