Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is defined as the spontaneous urine discharge associated with occurrences of increased intra-abdominal pressure. Considered the most common type of incontinence, SUI affects up to 50% of females worldwide. Although the literature documents about 200 different surgical methods, pubovaginal slings (PVS) are widely accepted as the gold standard treatment.
