Abstract

As soon as the pediatric asthmatic leaves the hospital, emergency department, or physician's office, the provision of their care is in the hands of a parent or guardian, or themselves. Patients often require more intensive intervention by a health care professional. The respiratory therapist is a logical physician extender in the home. This Article explores home-based asthma disease management programs that are respiratory-therapist directed.
