Cutaneous cryosurgery

Dermatol Nurs. 2006 Oct;18(5):456-9.

Abstract

Cryosurgery is a therapeutic modality useful for treating cutaneous benign, premalignant, and malignant lesions. It consists of lowering lesional temperature below a critical level to cause its destruction. Lowering skin temperatures without the intent to directly cause lesional destruction (to trigger an immune mechanism, for example) is termed cryotherapy.
