Abstract

  1. COVID-19 in critically ill patients causes death not only from pneumonia but also from multiple organ injuries.

  2. In critically ill COVID-19 patients with pneumonia, pulmonary thromboembolism may be considered.

  3. In critically ill COVID-19 patients, contrast-enhanced computed tomography of the chest is mandatory to assess parenchymal patterns and to diagnose pulmonary thromboembolism.
