Seven peripheral deep-seated neurofibromas in five patients were examined by computed tomography (CT). This proved to be the most helpful investigation for demonstrating the precise size, shape and localisation of the lesion prior to surgery. In some cases CT may suggest the correct diagnosis where this has not previously been considered.
