Differential diagnosis of mediastinal fluid levels visualized on computed tomography

J Comput Assist Tomogr. 1984 Apr;8(2):244-6.

Abstract

Mediastinal lesions containing three types of fluid levels were studied by computed tomography. Air-fluid, fat-fluid, and fluid-fluid levels were easily recognized and were caused by a colonic interposition, a cystic teratoma, and a hematoma, respectively. Computed tomography can be useful for detection and precise diagnosis of mediastinal lesions that contain fluid levels.
